Reddit Secret Santa 2014

17 January 201519 January 2015

Reddit hosts the Secret Santa event every year and last year, I’ve decided to join in the fun. I opted to match with someone from the same country and they matched me with a foreign guy who is living in Malaysia. Got him a care package and Poslaju-ed it to him. My initial Secret Santa did not send me anything so I got rematched with another person. My Secret Santa turned out to be from Canada and he got me these lovely items! 😀

Easy Apple Crumble

10 January 201519 January 2015

This apple crumble recipe is dummy proof I promise you XD It requires only a few ingredients that you can find at any supermarket and doesn’t need flour. I’ve also added banana into the recipe which tastes amazing with the cinnamon-flavoured apples.

IMG_1479The ingredients.

IMG_1480Put them diced apples in a pot.

IMG_1484Dump in the cinnamon, brown sugar and a cube of butter.

IMG_1482Crushed digestive biscuits. This will be spread on the top layer.

IMG_1486Bananas and apples never taste so good.

IMG_1487Pour the crumble on top and level them neatly.

IMG_1489They’re done! The crumble should look golden-brownish. I baked them at 180 degrees about 25-30 minutes.

IMG_1490Tastes good with vanilla ice-cream. Make sure you eat them with vanilla ice-cream!

Pork aglio olio recipe

7 January 20152 July 2015

spaghetti_aglio_olio

On weekdays, I only have half an hour to whip up dinner for the hubs and I. This modified pork aglio olio recipe can be done in less than 30 minutes (I love this because it’s quick :P). Goes well with red wine, really. Try this out and let me know how it goes 🙂

Ingredients:
Spaghetti
Garlic
Tomatoes
Shitake mushrooms
Black pepper
Salt
Anchovy fillets in olive oil
Cilantro for deco
Pan-fried pork strips (you can substitute this with chicken or beef strips)

1. Pan fry the pork strips until it’s golden brown and cooked.
2. Boil the spaghetti strips until they’re almost soft enough to break apart when pinched.
3. In a frying pan, fry the garlic, mushrooms and tomatoes with a little bit of oil.
4. Throw in a few fillets of anchovies and mix them all.
5. Pour in the cooked spaghetti and season with a little bit of salt (the anchovies are salty enough so a pinch of salt will do) and black pepper. Cook for about 3-4 mins.
6. Transfer the spaghetti into a plate and arrange the pork strips and cilantro on top.
